Perpetual beginnings

The Cartesian grid, a seemingly neutral method of categorization based on X, Y and Z axes, with its emphasis on rationalization and standardization, has enabled us to visualize and discipline space more effectively. It has long been subservient to modernist ambitions, the dream of controlling space, time and territory. Buildings are not just a warm protective cloak around us; we have brought much of the fullness of life inside. Contained and managed. Digital platforms have undoubtedly expanded our access to information, allowing us to witness what is happening in the world around us, but they fail to convey the multi-sensory aspects of actual experience, which is always in relation to light, darkness, wind, rain and earth. Trapped in cartesian enclosures, I am pondering on what it would be like to inhabit the open.
