In a world that sometimes seems to lack empathy, how can we create awareness towards small acts of care? 

Unfortunately, sexual abuse happens more often than we think, and many people that experience it don’t feel safe to tell those close to them. Through conversations with people who have also experienced sexual abuse and rape, I explore what life after sexual abuse and rape looks like. How did their body react? Did they feel supported by those close to them? What helped them in their healing journey? 

In Bloom is an intimate experimental film in which the viewer is taken into the minds of four different survivors of sexual assault and rape who narrate their experiences, thoughts and share what helped them overcome the trauma. In combination with the film, different acts of care are shown through photography, in the thesis and in the installation of the exhibition.
