To be more porous.

To think beyond communication and connection through shared language.

To give space deliberately.

To stay with the gaps of not understanding.

In search of gentler ways of being, a publication opens up a space for sensibility and reflection about our relationships with other-than-human lives. It documents the process of using letter writing to foster empathy and raise questions about interspecies communication.

In a participative manner, people in Den Haag were invited to write a letter to the other-than-human, to create intentional moments of personal connection with those we share this earth with. The publication refrains from filling the emptiness that is created by addressing someone who can neither receive nor reply to the messages. What can we learn from this gap if we stay with it, if we don’t forget about it or interpret it as muteness of the non-human world?

Small, unbaked ceramic cows inhabit the space and share it with the visitors.
