GRADUATION PROJECT

Siche is a wedge-serif typeface family in which calligraphic conventions meet in a rigid and mechanical flavour. The project started as a vaste study on abstraction, sizes and gestures to evolve in an analysis on how blunt and sharp moments in the letterforms dance together. Another corollary investigation concerned how specific thicknesses’ ratios could affect a style or the overall family. Siche consists of Acuto (Acute), a poster display style and Tronco (Blunt), a text group made of a regular, a black and a regular italic. The typeface finds its maximum expression in Disgraziato (Miserable), a compressed display style which, grotesquely, abuses unorthodox solutions.
