In Between Visits explores what it means to grow up with a chronic illness and how medical care becomes woven into everyday life. Over a period of four years, I returned to photograph the same children, creating a series of portraits that trace subtle changes in their appearance, posture, and presence over time. Rather than focusing on moments of crisis, the work looks at the quieter reality of living with illness: waiting rooms, routines, procedures, and the spaces in between. Alongside the portraits, images of stillness reflect the repetitive and fragmented nature of childhood spent within medical systems.

Rooted in my own experience of growing up around hospitals, the project approaches these children from a place of familiarity and proximity. Together, the photographs reveal how illness extends beyond diagnosis or treatment, becoming part of daily life and shaping the ways children move through the world.
