People rarely question the objects they spend their lives with. In a culture increasingly experienced through screens and other two-dimensional surfaces, this installation redirects attention toward the physical world, where our lives, attachments, and relationships take shape and objects reach their full potential.
First encountered through a pane of glass, the installation appears fragmented, almost like a still-life image. Only by stepping beyond this threshold can the space be fully experienced. The work explores the subtle pull of objects, the way certain things seem to speak to us, accumulating meaning through proximity, use, and time. I am inviting visitors into a closer encounter with the objects I made, collected and cared for over the past four years; it cultivates a heightened sensitivity to the beauty, presence, and quiet significance of what can be called "counter-objects".
The promise of a touch
What is the first thing you touch in the morning? What are the things you touch most throughout the day?
Feel what is currently sitting comfortably in your hands. Acknowledge where you ease your body into at this moment. There is something about the unconditional promise of a touch.
