This project explores “constructed belonging” as I reconnect with my hometown, Kaišiadorys, in Lithuania. Removed during my teens, I return as both insider and outsider, reconstructing the town through staged scenes of memory and imagination. Viewers sit on a stage I built, sharing my point of view, present but not fully at ease, visible and slightly exposed. It invites them to consider their role in the scene, what it means to look, be looked at, or not fully belong. A publication with photos from my grandmother and childhood friends, who remained, offers the perspective of those who stayed, contrasting imagined memory with lived experience.
