I Just Wanna Play With Dolls expresses an ambition: a desire to find in the act of playing liberation (in imagined possibilities), redemption (from fiction abandonment), and hope (for coming realities). How does one keep playing when becoming an adult?
In this project, Marta Cucurullo looks for closure with her child self, who judged the act of playing with dolls childish. She has never played with dolls. She had never allowed herself. She did not dare. Yet now she is left with a burning nostalgia for something she never had: a desire to find freedom through creating stories, to doll up reality. How does one learn how to play as an adult?
