In “A piece of gum in the shape of a ––“ the seemingly mundane setting of a paved street is the centre of attention to a network of cameras, routers and TV screens. The cameras zoom in on details of the pavement, devoting their attention to observing and understanding these tiles and the archive they hold. In this installation, the camera is subverted from its conventional role, not to capture moments of importance, but to highlight the continuous, unremarkable stream of everyday life, proposing a poetic alternative of the same reality that surrounds us every day; in our house, at our work, and on the street in between.
