LongStringInstallation_v2.0_52.081438, 4.318905

LongStringInstallation_v2.0_52.081438, 4.318905 is the second iteration of ongoing research into the acoustic and dynamic quality of long strings. In this setup, the strings are being brought into resonance by electromagnets to create a base tone. Movement of the trees in the wind creates variating tension within the strings, resulting in an ever changing composition.

This project builds on previous work done by artists like Alvin Lucier, Ellen Fullman and Paul Panhuysen. The mechanics behind the oscillating strings is inspired by Hermann von Helmholtz' first synthesizer.
