The state of Arctic flora biodiversity is a relatively untold story, often running contrary to the commonly held misconception that polar ecosystems are barren icy wastelands. The Arctic is undergoing stress that risks radically redefining it's geography, biodiversity, and political status. Not only does this transformation affect the Arctic, there will be global consequences.
An emblematic visual signal urges awareness of the issues at stake by introducing four flowers endemic to the Arctic region, representative of issues or cultural icons spanning nations and civilisations.
Whether as symbols of native wisdom, indigenous timekeepers, invasive aliens, or simply survivors, each species assumes the role of narrator for aspects of life in the North, relating diverse tales of adaptation which together provide clues to the future of Arctic flora biodiversity.
