From collecting a month´s worth of votive candles from a small church in Iceland, a hypothesis out of the gleaned materials; wicks, aluminium and paraffin wax is proposed. Through some of their industrial and natural processes combined with associations and references to myths, aspects of our anthropocentric relationship with nature are revealed and, furthermore, some sort of anchors. The anchors referred to in the works represent reminders and/or what should serve as motivation to be concious during these times of environmental fragility.
