Everything Breathes

Everything Breathes is a collection of photographs that is part of my graduation show at the Royal Academy of Arts, The Hague (2021). The title refers to the continual change in the shapes of nature. These photographs aim to make visible the changes I sense in nature’s surface. Water, clouds, trees, as well as their reflections on other surfaces. Up-close, the origin of the subject matter recedes, allowing the photograph to present a seemingly independent form. The way I photograph is a reflection of how I have always related to the world, collecting textures and colors of the everyday. Like abstract paintings, my photographs disclose a personal preference for form over subject matter.
