In the Netherlands, the use of firewood will be fully banned in multiple municipalities by 2030

With the increase of uncertain political climate in Europe the necessity of having a stable system for heating, communication, food supplies and clean water is crucial. Whilst countries all over Europe are distrubuting “emergency storage” lists, it poses questions of how wood as a living organic material can exist within systems of production, and how do these systems relate to our contemporary bodies?

 How is a material not only understood by its physical properties, but also as a carrier of labor, social history, ideology and basic human survival ?
