Instead of attempting to translate an experience or idea 'accurately', the photos within TITLE lean into photography's inability to convey something outside of itself. By engaging with the prints' physicality, Bartholomay approaches the distance between the viewer and the subject matter not as a gap to bridge, but a space to construct within.

Pushed near the edge of representation, the photos within TITLE expose their fundamental visual elements through an emphasis of their graphic qualities.

TITLE accentuates the often-dissonant relationship between the photo and what it claims to portray, engaging with photography's inherent relationship with concealment, obstruction and destruction. Censorship and political vandalism are used as visual references.
