How to Hold? [on care, permanence and structures that shift]

“How to Hold?" explores the relationship between structures and care. Inspired by structures of support, both physical and social, it approaches care not as something soft or natural, but as something that requires attention, adjustment, ongoing work and a willingness to respond to changing conditions. What allows something to keep standing, in what forms care can enter a space, and how care emerges through the ways we hold. The columns do not represent care through their appearance, but through the conditions they create. My Columns require caring practices. They are not stable complete structures that simply provide support. They depend on atttention, adjustment, participation, negotiation and returning. What keeps them standing is not permanence, but the willingness of others to engage with them.
