The industrial quality of oil, material presence circulating in family history through labour and infrastructures of extraction have led me to explore the concept of containment. While energy requires continuous movement, the presented oil (although not concealed in pipes) is disciplined. Through containment it becomes a reflection to the self, always a back and forth of piling and removing waste, carving and seeping into the interior architecture of the container walls. The wooden replica of a demolition waste container facilitates a process based sculpture withholding oil that slowly seeps and is absorbed by the raw wood.
