This project looks at queer affection in public spaces as a political act. Right now, in many parts of the world, we’re seeing LGBTQ+ rights under attack and a rise in violence against our communities. In this context, simple expressions of queer affection - like holding hands or sharing a kiss – become powerful acts of resistance and visibility.
The collages are made from photos of queer affection, pieces of found footage, and materials collected from the streets, such as flyers and posters. By layering these elements, I turn the city itself into a background that witnesses our presence. Public and private are mixed together in the images, showing how queer intimacy can challenge social norms.
Are we really safe outside? This project links past and present, showing how resistance, memory, and care are fundamental for a future where we can thrive, feel safe, and love whoever we want.
