
Highlighting replication and copying as successful strategies for travel agencies, the project explores the tourist as a technology of reproduction conditioned through staging of the tourist experience. Visual codification of landscapes has been intensified by (geo- and hash-) tags of social media making the platform contribute to photo homogenization and continuous reproduction of pre-framed version of a place.
Hallstatt, Austria, a town that fell victim to its popularity, becomes the conversation starter to graphically and spatially replicate “postcard angle” touring formats that flatten locations into sharable jpegs.
