Tales From The Kingdom Of Fear & Its Stronghold Of Post-Truth Paranoia

A collection of newspapers and their perceivers

Newspapers, objects that become the tangible part of historic events once they leave the press. Diaries, where every day, again and again, choices are made about what should be the most important affair and how it is angled. Building blocks for societal perception.

The perceivers in these paintings all have their own outlooks and their own ways of navigating information in the post-truth era. Some have lost trust, some have kept faith, some try to avoid, while others try to force. There are power dynamics but you can’t quite place where it started or by whom it got ignited. A realm where fluid figures are stuck together in solid forms pushing and pulling in some state of fear or power, a fear of uncertainty or the power of telling.
